Rae and Steph were fantastic characters and I loved their romantic story but more than that, I loved how real they felt. An unusual roommate arrangement Comedian Stephanie Renshaw hopes 55(13). It just made easy targets of vegans and made a false depiction of what psychologists actually do. The Roommate Arrangement - Jae - Google Books Comedian Stephanie Renshaw hopes to finally get her big break in LA. There was a lot of negative stereotypes about both vegan food and psychologists in the book which I found unnecessary and cliche (I’m neither a psychologist or a vegan by the way) with the usual references to ‘rabbit food’ and being constantly ‘psychoanalysed’ being boring, predictable and unnecessary, without any meaningful addition to the story. The depiction of Steph’s parents as patronising, vegan psychologists was a bit lame as well. The usual, ‘Someone died and it’s all my fault’ theme when in actuality the death wasn’t even remotely her fault. Ray’s ‘emotional trauma’ was self indulgent, predictable and boring. Parts of the book dragged on without anything really happening. The concept of the story is okay, but it’s delivery was pretty dull to be honest.
